Trying to go on holiday in the UK as a vegan can come with its own set of challenges. Short of self-catering accommodation, where you have to cook all of your meals yourself, it can be difficult to find somewhere to stay.

Most B&Bs have a ‘vegan option’ on the menu now, but unless you want to risk eating the same soggy salad every day for a week, it’s best to look for somewhere dedicated to providing quality vegan holidays.

Luckily, vegan B&Bs are on the rise in the UK, and they’re to be found in some truly gorgeous holiday spots. Here are some favourites for you to take a look at. After all, now is always the best time to get booking that next well-deserved break!

loaf vegan b&b

Loaf (Berwick-upon-Tweed, England)

Loaf, which stands for Local, Organic, and Animal-Friendly, opened its doors in 2013. Situated in Northumberland, close to the coastal market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, it’s one of a few 100% vegan hotels.

The food it serves has rave reviews, not only for how tasty it is, but also for the range of breakfast options available – perfect for any hungry vegan looking to fill up before a day exploring the nearby beaches. The area surrounding Loaf is stunning, so you won’t be stuck for things to do.

The rooms themselves are spacious, airy and well maintained. While dogs aren’t allowed to sleep over due to allergy reasons, there’s local accommodation available for your pooches at night, so they can still join you on your holiday!

La Suite West Hotel (London, England)

One of the premier vegan hotels, La Suite West, situated in Hyde Park, London, really does give you the full royal treatment. Completely plant-based, their restaurant is one of the best vegan places to eat in the city.

Located close to the West End and Paddington, the rest of London is easily accessible. When you walk in, however, you wouldn’t think that you’re in London at all.

The hotel has a very Zen feel to it, and you might find yourself wanting to take a day just to chill out in one of its Asian influenced rooms.

The Cosy Vegan (Dunfermline, Scotland)

*temporarily closed

Moving on to Scotland, this gorgeous vegan bed and breakfast is located close to Dunfermline, with easy transportation routes to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Cosy Vegan is a more casual setting, and dogs are very welcome to stay as well.

Their large vegan breakfast, known as ‘The Big Yin’ has great reviews for being both tasty and filling. If you’re a fan of Outlander, you can also take a tour around the 20 local spots where it was filmed.

Dunfermline itself isn’t to be dismissed. As the ancient capital of Scotland, its abbey is the final resting place of many of the Kings and Queens of Scotland, and well worth a visit.

As their name suggests the rooms here are on the smaller side, but The Cosy Vegan offers a very comfortable and welcoming stay.

Other options: Vegan retreats and vegan all inclusives

UK B&Bs are becoming more and more in tune with their vegan customers, and many vegan B&Bs are so good, that even omnivores are booking to stay! There are a few other options when it comes to vegan holidays however, if these aren’t for you.

Vegan retreats are fully designed to be eco-friendly and plant-based. Normally they are combined with yoga and other mindfulness practices to leave you feeling completely refreshed.

Vegan all inclusive holidays are another option. These are popping up all over the place, so you can go and get some sun knowing that you don’t have to go out and search for your next vegan friendly meal.

Wherever you’re spending your precious break – happy vegan holidays!
